Why Bother?
its the time of year when i get fed up with work, complain to everyone i know about work, and then finally settle back down into regular working life. i find it ridiculous that people expect me to do the job that’s the next level up from where i am. what’s the point of that? so i not only have to complete level 1, but i have to complete level 2 before i even start level 2? that doesn’t even make sense.
my patience is pretty low today. another group of visitors walked in and started chatting behind me and being noisy. i turned around and gave them my evil glare. then i put on my headphones. MUST YOU CONGREGATE BEHIND MY DESK????
well, i’m officially thirty. omg. weird cuz i still feel like i’m 16. speaking of being 16, i was telling wc that the only good bdays i will remember are probably my 16th and 30th. 16th b/c my parents were on one of their many asia trips with me home alone in the house for months and i had all my good friends over for food and movies. and 30th b/c well, i really didn’t want to celebrate it and despite trying to avoid any sorts of celebration, it turned out to be fun. i suppose it’s nice to feel loved. highlights of the day included roses from wc, flowers from FDs, lunch w/coworkers, surprise cake “meeting” with my team, yummy french food with some of the best souffle i have ever had, another surprise ice cream cake w/eliao and wc, and my new nikon d60! woo! despite trying to avoid being sung to all day, eliao and wc brought in some ice cream cake at 1130 and i couldn’t stop them - even though i yelled “NO SINGING!!!”. they wouldn’t listen.
so that was my bday in a nutshell. good times, good times. :)
i sat at the train station for over 1 hour today waiting for the train to come. i didn’t get to work until 10:45. turns out, it was another suicide. i’ve seen enough caltrain suicides (probably about 6 a year) to not have any sympathy for those people. plus they always seem to do it during rush hour. can’t they do it at a more convenient time? like 2pm?
last night i dreamt that i was tutoring math, specifically geometry. i was trying to teach the Side Angle Side theorem!! this might be a first for a geometry related dream.
so mad at myself. i forgot my twilight book at home!!! arggggghhhhh. about 3/4 done w/the 2nd book. sorry to all the people i almost ran into while trying to walk/read at the same time.
caffeine makes me feel sick. i drank an entire “tall” cup, which is more than i can handle. ugh.
i am currently obsessed with twilight. it really makes the book so much better when you picture Edward Cullens as Robert Pattinson. and btw, Robert Pattinson in real life = so-so. Robert Pattinson as vampire = hot.
wow, i haven’t blogged for…. almost 2 years? at least not work related blogs. i noticed when more bad things happen, i tend to want to blog more. last week was a bad week, hence the urge to vent. this week was ok. i barely made it to the train M, T, and W. also i’ve been forced to wear sandals or uggs the past few days b/c of my monday injury and on top of that, it’s been RAINY this week! feet… cold… first of all, i had a blister, so i couldn’t wear normal shoes. and as i was sprinting to catch the train on monday, i somehow tripped on the escalator, kicking my big toe on the escalator stair. i looked down and saw a huge flap of toe-skin hanging out. by the time i awkwardly hobbled my way down to the train, i saw that a lot of blood was starting to fill up the space under the skin. i didn’t have any tissue and the blood was starting to overflow onto my shoe and concrete, so i ripped up some paper and started wiping away. not a good idea b/c paper is not very absorbent. duh. what really annoyed me was this dude who walked by and just stopped and stared for like 2 long seconds. wtf? if you’re going to stare at me, at least ask if i’m ok. otherwise, just move on! so anyways, i got on the train, got some proper wet paper towels to take care of the bleeding and sort of “placed” the skin back to its original position, hoping that my toe would magically “seal” everything back together. go immune system!
ew, my toe looks grosser than normal up close. also, now i have a slight fear of going up escalators while wearing open toed shoes. :(
